- Claudio Sanchez doing what he does best - Drown
Coheed and Cambria have done it again. Another stunning album to tie into their storyline will be available to the public on April 13th, 2010. Not only does the CD come with a ton of sweet stuff that any fan will want, but Year of the Black Rainbow is a dark, edgy, full-palette of musical genius. The prequel to their entire collection, Year of the Black Rainbow will not disappoint. The title track, "Here We Are Juggernaut" was released on iTunes and Myspace earlier this month. Fans were also given a taste of the album's first song on the album, "The Broken" in early February.
Extras in the Deluxe Edition Album
(available for preorder now at Coheed and Cambria's Website )
Year of the Black Rainbow completes The Amory Wars, Claudio's story which has also been released in the form of graphic novels whose releases sync up with the albums they compliment. Year of the Black Rainbow is different, however. When you purchase the complete package, you will also receive a 300+ novel that tells the entire story, beginning to end. Coheed's website has released the cover art for the novel as well as the album, which can be found on the news page of their website.
The CD also comes with two bonus demo tracks and a Making Of DVD that includes interviews with the band and the producers, Atticus Ross and Joe Barresi. Atticus Ross is best known for his work with Nine Inch Nails and especially Trent Reznor. He's also worked with Bad Religion, Dillinger Escape Plan, Rancid, and even Pink. Joe Barresi most famously produced the debut album of Queens of the Stone Age. These guys know what they're doing and the album will leave any Coheed fan more than satisfied.
Coheed and Cambria Plan a National Tour to Promote Year of the Black Rainbow
The band is traveling through New England, finishing up a tour with Earl Greyhound before heading to California for the Coachella music festival on April 17th. After that, Coheed hits the road again for a national tour with Circa Survive and Torche. The tour starts April 22nd in North Carolina, winds all over the country and ends in Washington DC at the end of May. Then they're heading overseas. The guys have a lot coming up and they've got a hell of an album to promote, even though it won't need any help at all.
Coheed's New Album is a Must-Have for Any Fan
The album can be purchased in two forms: just the CD ($12.99) with no frills or the Deluxe Hardcover Edition ($39.99) that comes with the hardcover novel, a bonus DVD and a Black Card. Black Cards allow the carrier early entrance into Coheed shows. They also provide sweet opportunities like Meet n' Greets, exclusive gear and discounts on merchandise.
Only a few weeks left until the drop date. Get ready! This is the Year of the Black Rainbow.
